FAQ
You do not need to have a bouquet subscription to place an order for flowers! Subscriptions, however, are a guaranteed way to receive fresh blooms every week for your subscription period.
You can always request a bouquet or small cup arrangement by messaging through the Thistle & Daffodil FB page or calling/texting 706-963-0119.
The answer to that is no.
I grow and sell cut flowers but I don't set up for events. Kaitlin Long's shop Downtown Flowers in Toccoa and All In Bloom Studio are wonderful florists. They are set up to make your events shine. I would recommend a florist for planning and arranging your wedding flowers. However do ask your florist, to try to source their flowers locally if they can!
That said, I do offer grower's buckets of my flowers (DIY) if you want to set up simple arrangements on your own. I realize not all brides have the cash resources to pay for all the flowers they want at their wedding. If you just need some beautiful, fresh, local flowers to enhance your tables at the reception or rehearsal dinner, you can order a few grower's buckets from me! I promise, you will get the best of what is in season.
Bouquet subscriptions run for a total of 4 weeks. Every subscriber gets a fresh wrapped bouquet each week during their subscription period.
Subscription bouquets are picked up at either Ash-ling Booksellers in Toccoa or Cowboy Bob's in Clarkesville on Fridays during their store hours. I cannot ship bouquets at this time.
Every Friday morning a text message goes out to current subscribers reminding them of their bouquet pick-up. If you will be unable to pick up your bouquet, please contact the farm by Wednesday at (706) 963-0119.
The farm is not certified organic but we do everything we can to protect our pollinators and beneficial insects. Thistle & Daffodil farm does not spray weed killer and pesticides. Instead we strive to feed the soil and promote beneficial insects and birds. Healthy soil means healthy plants and healthy plants become beautiful blooms.
Yes! Every bouquet you purchase is grown right here in Toccoa, Georgia.
Many flower varieties grown on the farm are unique and unusual. Not all flower types ship well and some, like dahlias and sweet peas, are best when they don't need to travel far.
Just like your local veggies, local flowers are often superior in quality too.
No, I don't have a greenhouse. (Though I would like one in the near future!) Everything I grow and sell is planted outside directly into the field. I use row cover to help protect my plants early in the season but I have no hoop house/ greenhouse.
There are a few tricks and trade secrets to growing flowers early in the season. I am always trying to see how I can push the limits, just a little bit, to get flowers just a little earlier. In the end, I am at the mercy of the weather and sometimes it doesn't work . . . but it is always worth trying!
